A simple meal prep dinner plan (using shredded chicken)

Hey there,

If you’ve ever wished dinner planning felt a little more automatic, I want to share a simple example of how I use shredded chicken to plan a few dinners for the week. And it’s straight from The Shredded Chicken Meal Prep Guide!

Think of this as a mini, real-life meal prep walkthrough.

✨ A sample meal prep dinner plan:

Let’s say you want to prep your chicken breasts once and use it for three dinners this week:

  • Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta → 2 cups shredded chicken
  • Mediterranean Chicken Grain Bowls → 2 cups shredded chicken
  • Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowls → 3 cups shredded chicken

That’s 7 cups of shredded chicken total needed for the selected meals, which means you’ll need to cook about 2.7 pounds of raw chicken breast (there's a chart in the guide!). This is where planning ahead really pays off!

✨ How this works in real life:

On Sunday, you would:

  1. Cook your chicken: Pick the method that fits your schedule: oven, slow cooker, Instant Pot, etc. The guide walks through when to use each one. Or just pick your favorite! (Psst, here's my baked shredded chicken recipe)
  2. Shred it your way: Use two forks, a hand mixer, or your favorite method. I share which options are fastest, easiest, and least messy.
  3. Store it smartly: Keep your shredded chicken in an airtight container in the fridge so it stays fresh and ready to use all week. My secret tip? Add a drizzle of chicken broth so the chicken doesn’t dry out.

Then, over the next three days, your protein is already done. You’re just assembling the rest of the meals: pasta one night, grain bowls the next, and rice bowls after that, using the exact amount of chicken you planned for. No random leftovers to deal with!

Of course, this is just one example, but it shows how meal prep can feel intentional without being rigid. You’re not locked into the same recipe every night. You’re creating a flexible plan that works for your week.

✨ This method and dinner recipes can all be found in my eBook, The Shredded Chicken Meal Prep Guide! ✨

Hope this example sparks a few ideas for your own week!
